Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy, and expensive and you probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

downdraft not as strong as old version

Submitted by poorhomeowner - major disappointment. i had the old jennair with downdraft, and only chose this model as i thought it would be an easy swap. WRONG!!!! the new model sits lower in the back and bottom, so i had to completely remodel the area where it was. and now that its in, the downdraft is poor compared to the old version. with all this hassle, i wish i had installed an over head vent and bought a different brand completely. lesson learned. on the plus side, it heats very quickly. con: stove top already scratched.

My 3rd JennAir range

Submitted by Marie - Have used JennAir ranges for approximately 35 years---have never been disappointed with performance .Don'the know what I will do when canning season arrives-----bought. extra burners for previous unit so canning was not a problem

The only range that fit the existing location.

Submitted by Romeo2blocked - The recently deceased range was a downdraft and installing an overhead vent was not physically or cost feasible. That left this range and the Kitchen aid sibling. We decided on the Jennair since the oven handle was less industrial looking (important to the primary cook). The installation was difficult requiring cutting granite countertop since the 1998 era range was not fully 30 in wide and had a flange over the granite. This range is 30 in wide for the entire depth and has no flange. The blower installation was difficult since the vent duct in the slab was directly under the left side panel of the range. This required imaginative duct manipulation. If you need a downdraft range, this is essentially the only choice. If you can install an overhead vent, then that will be a far more effective vent and lower cost. The vent fan is surprising loud for a range of this price. The clock is on the top surface, and I prefer the front installation on our previous Jennair range that could be seen across the kitchen.

Cooks great, but needs a trim kit included

Submitted by hrfstone - It cooks well...slow to preheat though. And the fit is terrible! We replaced an older model JennAir and this was one does not have the overhang, so there's a gap on both sides AND they are not carrying the trim kits to resolve this issue. So very frustrating. The trim kit should be included with this slide-in range.

Nice Range

Submitted by Bud - Having to adjust temp in the oven to bake items I have baked for years on my old unit. The operation of the controls are somewhat difficult.

We would not purchase this item again.

Submitted by Pat Mossey - Things that are not great about the range--it is new and we feel it did not come with adequate instructions on broiler use as well as inadequate information on venting system. When we boil water, without a lid on the pan-steam "wets" the wall behind the range. Downdraft vent system does not begin to handle the steam. For broiler use we have no clue as to temps to use-,Prior to this purchase ,our Thermador used-hi or low and the door needed to be set on open.Obviously, not happy customers.Even the top keeps adjusting the temp.

Somewhat Disappointed

Submitted by Linda - Purchased a JennAir downdraft years ago so I could bake in the summer without heating kitchen. Had to purchase another downdraft or make major kitchen alterations. Very disappointed that it took from Oct. 29 until Dec. 15 to finally get it delivered and installed (missed Thanksgiving altogether!!!) Now it juts out into the room even though it's installed flush to the wall, looks like poor design to me. Also disappointed that I couldn't get the range with induction cooktop.

Great Range!

Submitted by Eric Zimmer - I use the range regularly for browning, making scrambled eggs, sandwiches, omelettes, and other things. I use cast iron, black steel and nonstick pan on it. It works great with all of these. I bake, roast, and finish dishes in the oven. It all works well. I really like the soft-close oven door. That is a new one to me.

Submitted by Sergio - Cooking and baking

Yes, I recommend this product

This is the second time I have purchased this range.

Submitted by Scheffler - This product works well in a small kitchen where it is located in an island that can use the down draft venting. My last served us well for nearly 30 years and we look forward to the many new features.

Submitted by Stephen Richardson - I'm a casual cook, things I like are it heats up quickly boils water fast, things I do not like are, cools down slowly, the touch controls should be lighted, and the whole control panel seems big and bulky and in the way of cooking.

Excellent product - would buy again

Submitted by John corbett - I have had Jenn Air products in the past and always been satisfied

Excellent Design

Submitted by Shahla Butler - This is the third Jennair I've owned over the past 30 years. I like the design of the cook top in this version much better. I also like the new controls.

Greatly improved product

Submitted by Dean - We had an older Jenn Air that, frankly, we did not like. The knob design (plastic knobs located on front of oven) and the oven cleaning system resulted in melted knobs. This new model is a super design.

I would be carefull about recommending this item

Submitted by Bob - Coil for oven below oven bottom prevents the use of a "mat" to block out difficult to remove spills. Oven cleaning technique is quite ineffective. Cleaning glass top is not easy and must be done often.

TIme for a new range

Submitted by Farm Wife - This was a replacement of a 30+ year old Jenn Aire range. Installation was not quick but worth it in the long run. I wanted to keep the down draft and there were few options available. Preferred the burner control placement to other option available.

Only one complain so far

Submitted by julmer - Installer cut my granite counter top to place range. I have 2 gaps between the range and the counter that needs a filler strip. I have had difficulty getting a response from my installer after I was told that a filler strip would be ordered. I have owned a Jenn-air range since 1993. I like the down draft feature because I do not have an overhead exhaust fan. This range replaces my 1993.

Not a very good experience!

Submitted by Nana - Had a downdraft before. This is much stronger. Love it. Very easy to use. Like the lights to remind you of hot surface. Oven cooks very evening. Top of the line range.

Jenn-air is the only brand range/oven owned

Submitted by Robert A. Gallus - Jenn-Air range is an excellent range/over, however your planned obsolescence needs to be corrected. Our prior Jenn-air was only 8 years old, front panel went out, repairman was able to find the part, however, it lasted only a couple of months after costing over $400 for the part forcing us to purchase a new range/oven with only a modest selection because pf thje vem

Have always bought Jenn Air ranges

Submitted by Nyla - Looks good but extends out beyond regular counters. Previous Jenn-Airs were even with counters. Very touchy control panel. Only had for a week--too soon to use convection.

Beautiful range

Submitted by John Zzeart - 2days after install, the touch panel became very intermittent. I am waiting for a replacement panel, so I can use the oven.

wonderful Stove, bad experience purchasing & installation

Submitted by Cynthia Blair - I had only two choices in a down draft slide in stove, Jenn Air was my favorite! I love my new stove even with the down draft motor being smaller and not performing as my last one did. My problem was with your vendor not willing to work with a disabled customer, I had to state three times while I have questions I am here to purchase this model Jenn Air, The next problem was their expensive installer was not a trained Jenn Air installer, he tried twice/two different days to install, I had to use my warranty on a one week old stove to have the down draft problem figured out then to be told they were not installers but that we could fix it, which we did. I do find my stove to be a quality stove, I cook, bake and have canned almost daily using and enjoying all cycles. I hope in the future Jenn Air will have an over lay or tactile control panel for blind users!

Yes, I recommend this product

Very modern design and function

Submitted by HotinTN - We have only had the range for a week. The oven's concealed bottom burner is very nice. Appears to be easy to clean. For best results, be prepared to purchase expensive, even heating, copper or aluminum core stainless steel pots/pans. Nearly all other will have some issue with the cooktop or not heat evenly.

My third Jenn-air range!

Submitted by MartyBirkeneder - I love the convection option and find the glass top so much easier to keep clean and shiny. This is my third Jenn-air in 30 years, and I love it! The design has been improved, the oven is larger and look is so sleek.

Always Buy a Downdraft Range

Submitted by David and Margaret Loffelman - Range has multiple uses and accommodates many different types of cooking from frying, heating pasta water, stir-frying with a wok, baking, etc. and has one nifty pullout oven rack for checking baking and ease of lifting from oven to countertop.

Jenn-Air Purchase

Submitted by Terry Sarner - I like the Jenn-Air range and bought it because we owned one for 28 years. The new design is really an improvement over the older range (as would be expected) and we are enjoying using our new Jenn-Air. The glass surface tarnished after the first couple of uses and we cannot seem to restore the new appearance it had. Other than that situation, we're very happy with the Jenn-Air.

Out with the old Jenn-Air. In with the new Jenn-Air

Submitted by Lee Wright - I love the look of my new Jenn-Air. I love the downdraft. I love the large oven. Overall the stove isn't quite as functional as I would like. It requires special cleaning and special cookware. it's not as durable as my old Jenn-Air.

Good replacement downdraft electric

Submitted by Karen Cooper - When we bought our house we had a 20 year old Jenn-Air downdraft with an oven that wouldn't heat. I quickly realized it was easier to replace the range with the same product. I was thankful that Jenn-Air did not make any size changes or my range wouldn't fit in my semi-remodeled kitchen. It would have meant an entire kitchen remodel. The only problem I have had since buying my range was the internal fan burning out while I was using the oven for most of the day with several different temperatures. It was replaced under warranty and I have only seen the warning one more time after replacement, but the new fan continues to work. I hope this is not a defect to the new stove. I really enjoy my range overall.

Submitted by R. Weiss - I needed a downdraft oven to replace my 35 year old Jenn Air- it was an expensive purchase. I could not be more pleased with my purchase- its beautiful! It takes some time to keep it clean, but it's well worth the effort. It cooks perfectly- well worth the investment- I am very satisfied! Thank-You!

Not easy to install

Submitted by Mindy - 3RD Jenn-air in 30 years, kind of locked into the downdraft by kitchen design. Like the product, but the separate blower motor mounting is way to complicated. The installers had to readjust it 3 times to get it to line up right.

downdraft range design flaw

Submitted by Sue - I upgraded all my appliances to stainless steel this summer. In doing so I replaced my 15 year old Jenn Air Downdraft Stove that I loved. The newer models have the knobs and controls on the top of the stove which seem to be in the way. When cooking, if there is a splatter , I put a towel on the front controls to keep grease and anything else from going all over and down into the knob. the older model had controls on the front and was much easier to keep clean. I consider that a design flaw but otherwise, I love all the appliances.

Downdraft Issue

Submitted by Jan - The change in the downdraft motor from the older original Jenn-Aires has resulted in difficulties in correcting a problem from 1986 when a flexible vent was incorrectly used. The side vent on the current Jenn-Aire motor requires us to cut into a wall to install a new solid metal vent that meets code. In addition, it appears we will need to pull out the stove to get that done.. Since the new stoves are so big and heavy, it requires 2-3 people to deal with it. Also, we really liked the modular feature of the original Jenn-Aire and were very disappointed that it is really a different Kitchen Aid brand now.
